"Once again thank you for a great workshop and one of the nicest gigs we have had the pleasure to mount." – Lesley Bossine, Manager, Landmark Arts Centre, Teddington, Middlesex

"An excellent and entertaining show."  – Bill Gidley, Rotary Club of Romsey Test, Hampshire

"Just to let you know how much we all appreciated your ukulele playing at Kate and Lu's wedding. It was such a lovely day and your playing made the Hawaiian theme even more memorable. Loved the serenade at the end, I know they loved it and everybody else did too. Thanks a million."  – Carol Parkes, bride's mother, London

Currently Clive's musical work is heavily centred on the instrument wonderfully described by Krusty the Clown in The Simpsons as "the thinking man's violin". . . yes, of course, it's . . .

The UKULELE – the "jumping flea", the most popular acoustic instrument in the world.

Clive's first instrument, that he started playing at the age of 4. Seeing his band Roaring Jelly in the 80s was a major influence on the founders of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, who in turn have played a huge part in popularising the uke. It's taken a quarter of a century but it's come full circle. Having taught ukulele as well as guitar in Derbyshire in the mid-90s, Clive migrated south in 1997 to become the first ukulele teacher in Surrey. He also does live performances, mainly solo (duo or larger group possible by request).

So . . . in exchange for money he will attend your event / wedding / party / club / festival / theatre / arts centre / school / college / social group / luxury yacht (you never know your luck) etc. and perform a suitable selection from his bag of songs old, new and original. He will perform with a small PA from a fixed position if desired, but a favourite format that works very well is:

The Strolling (Ukulele) Minstrel

Direct, simple, old-fashioned, low-tech. No PA, no wires, no stage, just Clive and his ukulele moving freely among the guests / audience, getting up close and personal (or not!) as desired. He has a wide repertoire including classic pops, standards, novelty songs, "tiki" favourites and lively instrumentals.
