SOLO
"Once again thank you for a great workshop and one of the nicest gigs we have had the pleasure to mount." - Lesley Bossine, Manager, Landmark Arts Centre, Teddington
"Thank you, dearest Clive, for your wonderful musical contribution to my party. Your ukulele and attire brought a smile to everyone's faces and added the perfect 'tiki' atmosphere to a lovely summer night." -- Julie Peasgood, Actor / TV Presenter / Writer

Currently Clive's musical work is heavily centred on the instrument wonderfully described by Krusty the Clown in The Simpsons as "the thinking man's violin". . . yes, of course, it's . . .
The UKULELE, the "jumping flea", the most popular acoustic instrument in the world . . .
. . . Clive's first instrument, that he started playing at the age of 4. Seeing his band Roaring Jelly in the 80s was a major influence on the founders of The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. Having taught ukulele as well as guitar in Derbyshire in the mid-90s, Clive migrated south in 1997 to become the first ukulele teacher in Surrey. He also does live performances, mainly solo.
So . . . in exchange for money he will attend your event / wedding / party / club / festival / theatre / arts centre / village hall / school / college / social group / luxury yacht (you never know your luck) etc. and perform a suitable selection from his bag of songs old, new and original. He will perform with a small PA from a fixed position if desired, but a favourite format that works very well is:
The Strolling (Ukulele) Minstrel
Simple, old-fashioned, low-tech, acoustic. No PA, no wires, no stage, just Clive and his ukulele promenading freely among the guests. People can listen if they like or it can just be atmospheric live background music. He has a wide repertoire including classic pops, standards, novelty songs and instrumentals.

These days HAWAIIAN-THEMED events are very popular - Clive dons his Hawaiian shirt and lei and plays a selection of Hawaiian, hapa haole and tiki tunes.
